Overview
If you're looking for the fishing adventure of a lifetime, come spend a week with us at the Kiklukh Lodge.
Kiklukh Lodge (Kick-Luck) is a small, remote fishing lodge offering personalized service to a limited number of guests. Sixteen is the maximum fishermen we book in a week. Accessible only by the bush plane, the lodge is located approximately eighty miles southeast of Cordova, Alaska, a small fishing community on the Prince William Sound. Alaskans refer to the North Gulf Coast of Alaska as the "lost Coast of Alaska." On a clear day the coastal and mountain viewing is beautiful.

The Kiklukh Lodge sits on a bluff overlooking the Kiklukh River and the Gulf of Alaska. Behind us sits three mounts ranges: the Robinson, Chugach and Saint Elias with the Bering Glacier in between. On a clear day you can almost reach out and touch Mount St. Elias, an 18,008-foot peak, second only to Mt. Denali. Magnificent icebergs migrating from the Bering Glacier are a common sight on the beach. Rocky Mountain goats, brown and black bear, moose, wolves, beaver, otter, eagles, and other wildfowl can be commonly seen in our area.
A two minute drive by ATV from the lodge, the Kiklukh River, is approximately eight miles, of low gradient, free flowing water from two mountain lakes. The water is small, averaging forty to sixty feet in width, depending on the water level, with an average depth of just over three to five feet. The lower three miles of the river is flat and braided with excellent holding water and runs for incoming fish. The upper river is narrow with higher water volume, offering more shoot and run type fishing conditions. Under most circumstances, the water is gin clear, affording anglers the unique opportunity to "sightfish" for trophy silvers. The stream bottom is old washed gravel and although most anglers prefer to wade, wading is not a prerequisite to good fishing. Many of our most productive runs and holes are fished directly from the bank or shore, ideal for non-wading anglers.
The Kiklukh River surrenders to an annual run of silver salmon, somewhere in the nature of 20,000 fish. This specific strain of Coho along the North Gulf Coast is larger in average than the Coho in southwest or western Alaska. Coho on the Kiklukh average twelve pounds, with many fish taken during a week's fishing between thirteen to eighteen pounds. Each year several fish in the twenty-pound category are caught and released. The unofficial lodge record was a weighed, fly-caught chromer that tipped the sales at twenty-two pounds and four ounces. Four I.G.E.A. world records were set on the Kiklukh River in just three years. The salmon are mint bright, fresh from the sea on an incoming tide, and very tough on medium weight tackle. The river lends itself to short casts with fly or hardware, and explosive action with reel sizzling runs.
FISHING SEASON
Our fishing season at the Kiklukh Lodge runs from late August through the middle of October. Our trips run from Friday to Friday.
LIQUOR
Anglers are asked to bring their own spirits. The lodge will provide all the set-ups. If you enjoy wine with dinner or a cold beer for lunch, we can have it waiting for you at the camp and you can pay for it on arrival.
CATCH AND RELEASE
Each guest is allowed to keep and bring home six salmon. In the spirit of sportsmanship and conservation in preserving these world-class fisheries, we ask that all trout and steelhead be released. We also ask that all treble hooks on lures be replaced with single barb less hooks. Your salmon will be cleaned, vacuumed sealed or wrapped and boxed for shipping home. There is always a batch of salmon in the smokehouse for hors d’oeuvres while at the lodge.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
If there is anytime left in your day, after battling trophy size silvers and eating like a king or queen, the country around the lodges offer photo opportunities. Bring plenty of film and a small set of binoculars to take it all in. We also have a lot of fun trap shooting and beachcombing. Flight seeing is available at an extra cost.
FISHING LICENSES
Fishing licenses can be purchased at the lodge. A fourteen-day Alaska fishing license costs $50.00 and a seven-day license costs $30.00.
DEPOSITS, FINAL PAYMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS
