COLOR-MAX® 2, for faster, more accurate matches

As many successful, progressive shops know, BASF took color matching speed and accuracy to a new level when it first introduced European-developed COLOR-MAX® into the North American collision repair industry. The industry's most advanced spectrophotometer.

SmartScan® is at the very top of the color technology pyramid. This hand-held instrument reads the light wavelengths of the color on the car; it then works with the SmartTrak® computer system to provide a formula which produces the same color precisely. SmartScan® automatically samples four angles, providing superior matches of metallics and micas. But it doesn't just find the closet formula; SmartScan® adjusts the formula to create an exact match to the color on the sampled car. SmartScan® software combines knowledge of color, light, and BASF tinting bases to adjust the formula to a precise match. Its "artificial intelligence" gives it unprecedented capability in modifying a theoretical formula to match an exact car color.
